Ghiasuddin Balban ruled as king of the Delhi Sultanate from 1266- 1287 AD. He is regarded as the greatest king of the Slave Dynasty; ironically, very little of him remains today. I asked a caretaker, aged mid 70’s, when this tomb became a ruin. He told me that he had grown up in the surrounding area and always remembered it in this state. Presumably it was harshly dealt with by one of the other rulers who followed Balban, or by time
