Adham Khan was the son of the Mughal Emperor Akbar’s foster mother, and a general in his army. Akbar had him put to death after he murdered the prime minister of the imperial court, Ataga Khan, in 1562. The structure has multiple passages inside where visitors often lose their way; it is therefore often known as ‘Bhul Bhuliyan’ (maze).
