Athpula (or 'eight piered') Bridge was built by Nawab Bahadur, a nobleman in the court of the Mughal emperor Akbar (1556-1605). It is one of the few surviving structures in Delhi built during Akbar’s reign, when Agra was the capital. It has seven arches, and once spanned a tributary of the Yamuna river
