This is a Lodi period tomb, named so because of it’s twelve pillars (bara= 12, khamba= pillar). This is one of the three ‘Barakhambas’ in Delhi- others are located in Nizamuddin Basti and inside the Delhi Golf Club. A fourth existed till the early- mid 1900’s near the mosque opposite Yusuf Zai market near Barakhamba Road. It was windy when I took this picture, which is probably why there are so many leaves on the ground- these in turn add to the beauty of the structure and surroundings
