This is a mosque constructed without an enclosure (probably so that a large number of people could congregate for Eid prayers), and was built in the early 15th century between the Tughlaq and Sayyid periods. This was a turbulent period in Delhi’s history; Timur, from Central- Asia had recently overrun the city. It seems to have been commissioned by Mallu Khan who ruled Delhi for a brief period. The flowers strewn about in the foreground make this one of my favourite pictures
