This nine arched bridge was built in the reign of Ferozshah Tughlaq (ruled 1351- 1388). It was designed over the Najafgarh ‘nullah’ (or drain) in order to prevent the Yamuna river’s backwaters from entering the drain. It continues northwards as a bund with a sluice chamber. It is the oldest bridge in Delhi that is still in use
